Welcome to the page of Tom Goldner
This space is independent of social media algorithms. Here you will find my projects, news and events.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and waters on which I live, work and travel. As a person who seek meaning and knowledge through storytelling, I recognise that the First Peoples of this land have been doing so for over 60,000 years. I pay my respects to elders past, present and emerging.
I am a photographic artist and curator living on Wurundjeri Country in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. My practice explores the intersections of photography, ecology, and the ways we are positioned within natural and historical cycles. Working through experimental and collaborative approaches to storytelling, I challenge traditional notions of photography as a singular ‘record of truth,’ instead using the medium to reflect on uncertainty, memory, and our complex relationships with our colonial history and the natural world.
Alongside my creative practice, I work as an Operations Coordinator at Deakin University within the School of Communication and Creative Arts, and as Co-Creative Director at Photo Collective. In this role, I help facilitate initiatives such as the Australian Photography Awards and the Australian and New Zealand Photobook Awards. These platforms supporting the photographic community and foster meaningful dialogue through visual storytelling.
I have lectured across several institutions and continue to mentor emerging artists. Across exhibitions, teaching, and collaborative projects, my work is driven by a desire to use photography as a tool for learning, reflection, and conversation.
Thank you for visiting.
